These efforts span various aspects, from strategic planning and governmental support to specialized medical services, public health initiatives, and the integration of diverse sectors like sports and technology to enhance well-being.

Here are key aspects of Saudi Arabia’s healthcare development:

  • Strategic Vision and Governmental Commitment:
  • The Council of Ministers commended the Kingdom’s efforts in protecting the environment at local, regional, and global levels, which indirectly supports public health.
  • The government’s support for international cooperation in digital advancement leverages modern technologies to serve humanity and drive sustainable growth, implying future technological integration in healthcare.

Services included emergency care, outpatient clinics, X-rays, lab tests, prescriptions, physical therapy, dialysis, surgeries, and deliveries, demonstrating a wide range of available services. These efforts align with the hospital’s strategic plan to improve efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • The Qassim Health Cluster launched a specialized center for joint and sports injury replacement at Oyoun Al-Jawa Hospital, marking a unique and specialized addition to regional health services. This center aims to provide high-quality surgical services under experienced medical staff, offering comprehensive patient evaluation in a single visit to improve efficiency and reduce waiting times. This initiative is part of expanding specialized services and aligns with national health sector transformation goals and improving healthcare quality.
  • The approval to regulate a medical referrals center indicates an ongoing effort to streamline and improve healthcare access and coordination.
  • Public Health and Preventive Initiatives:
  • The “What is Lost is Not Recovered” initiative was launched in Jazan to enhance awareness of preventing eye diseases and preserving eyesight. This comprehensive initiative targets all segments of society with field awareness programs, vision screening, diagnostic clinics, and educational content on various eye conditions, emphasizing early detection. This reflects the belief that eyesight is a precious blessing and aligns with efforts to spread a culture of prevention and regular health examinations.
  • The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) actively combats health threats, such as referring a facility to the Public Prosecution for trading counterfeit cosmetic products and manipulating expiry dates. The SFDA seized 1.5 million non-compliant cosmetic containers and closed the facility, emphasizing its commitment to applying best standards in cosmetic product safety and quality, and combating fraud to protect consumer health.
  • Efforts to combat sandstorms and desertification through legislation, royal reserves, and afforestation initiatives (e.g., Middle East Green and Saudi Green Initiatives) also contribute to public health by improving air quality and environmental stability.
  • The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s project to utilize groundwater and develop surface water sources aims to improve the efficiency of non-renewable water resources and develop safe water sources, aligning with the National Water Strategy and Vision 2030 for a safe and sustainable water sector. Safe water resources are fundamental for public health.

The Saudi Cancer Association, for example, provides psychological and social support, raises health awareness, and encourages scientific research, striving for a “nation without cancer”.
  • The “Program of Pride” (Fakhr) was launched for people with disabilities, aiming to qualify and discover their athletic capabilities, enhance their community participation in sports, and create champions. This initiative focuses on improving their quality of life, physical abilities, and opportunities for national and international achievements.
  • Sports like basketball, table tennis, and boxing are recognized for contributing to personal development, mental health, social interaction, and stress relief. The increased participation of Saudi women in sports (over 150% since Vision 2030) and their achievements also highlight the focus on well-being across all demographics.
  • Historical Context of Healthcare:
  • A rare historical document from 1925 demonstrates King Abdulaziz’s early attention to providing healthcare and quick response to emergencies for pilgrims, even before the establishment of specialized government health agencies. This highlights a long-standing commitment to health services.
  • Challenges Highlighted (External Context):
  • While not within Saudi Arabia, the sources highlight severe humanitarian challenges related to healthcare in Gaza, where hospitals face critical fuel shortages leading to suspension of vital services like intensive care, dialysis, and surgeries. This has put hundreds of injured and sick people at risk of death, with medical teams struggling under immense pressure.

In conclusion, Saudi Arabia’s approach to healthcare development is comprehensive, integrating strategic vision, significant investment in infrastructure and specialized services, robust public health campaigns, and leveraging initiatives across other sectors like sports and environment to promote overall societal well-being and meet the ambitious targets of Vision 2030.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030: Cultural Transformation and Global Outreach

Saudi Arabia is actively pursuing extensive cultural development, with these efforts serving as a cornerstone of its ambitious Vision 2030. The overarching goal is to foster an open, attractive, and competitive environment that diversifies national income and ensures long-term sustainability, ultimately benefiting all sectors, including culture. This commitment reflects a strategic approach to enhancing the quality of life and promoting societal well-being.

Key aspects of Saudi Arabia’s cultural initiatives include:

  • Promoting Saudi Culture Globally:
  • The Ministry of Culture concluded the “Saudi Cultural Week” in Osaka, Japan, held from July 12 to 15, 2025, at the Expo 2025 venue. This event served as an exceptional cultural platform, linking Saudi heritage with global cultural exchange frameworks and coinciding with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Japan.
  • The initiative emphasized the “Year of Handicrafts 2025,” showcasing various traditional Saudi crafts like Sadu weaving, palm frond shaping, pottery, and traditional engravings, presented by Saudi artisans to introduce Japanese and international audiences to the beauty and authenticity of Saudi craftsmanship.
  • Participating cultural entities included the Heritage Commission, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wurth Center), and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy, all presenting interactive activities reflecting Saudi heritage, history, and diverse artistic richness.
  • The King Abdulaziz Foundation contributed a photographic documentary reflecting the history of Saudi-Japanese relations and key diplomatic and cultural milestones.
  • The Saudi pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka hosted over 700 diverse cultural events, including live shows, interactive workshops, and immersive experiences that highlighted the geographical and cultural diversity of the Kingdom, connecting culture with national transformation, sustainability, and innovation. The event facilitated genuine platforms for knowledge exchange and fostered closeness between Saudi and Japanese people, further expanding Saudi cultural participation in international forums.
  • The Theater and Performing Arts Authority participated in the Avignon Festival in southern France, showcasing four authentic Saudi performing arts: Ardha, Khubaiti, Liwa, and Wadi Dawaser, along with the contemporary Saudi play “Touq”. This participation aimed to highlight creative heritage, promote cultural exchange, and enhance Saudi presence in the global contemporary arts scene. The play “Touq” explored philosophical questions about human routine and the quest to break unseen barriers.
  • Preserving and Developing Local Heritage and Arts:
  • The “Alwan Al Baha” exhibition is set to launch on July 23, featuring 50 male and female artists from the Al Baha region. This exhibition, the first of its kind in Al Baha, aims to reflect the region’s visual identity and local heritage through painting and calligraphy, contributing to the artistic movement and celebrating the link between art and culture.
  • The King Faisal Center for Research and Studies has published “Al-Fosul wal-Jumal”, a unique work of linguistic heritage from the Andalusian school, in three scholarly volumes. This publication is part of the center’s “Linguistic Studies” series, aiming to revive Arabic language sciences and serve as a reference for higher academic levels, highlighting the depth of Arabic grammar and its connection to the civilization.
  • The King Abdulaziz Foundation has made available rare historical documents from the personal collection of Saleh bin Abdulwahed Al-Midani, including a letter from King Abdulaziz in 1925 demonstrating his early attention to providing healthcare for pilgrims. This initiative aims to provide valuable documents for researchers and deepen historical awareness by illustrating the administrative, social, and political life in the Kingdom.
  • Linguistic and Educational Initiatives:
  • The Shura Council advocated for the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language to study establishing offices inside and outside the Kingdom. The council also urged the academy to become a national scientific reference for all linguistic institutions in Saudi Arabia and to launch national initiatives and linguistic policies to preserve Arabic, enhance its use, and reinforce linguistic identity.
  • Integrating Technology and Addressing Challenges in Culture:
  • A significant discussion is ongoing regarding artificial intelligence (AI) and its transformative impact on the cultural world, particularly the relationship between humans and creative production. AI technologies are now involved in various fields beyond traditional technical applications, including music composition, literary text generation, and creating artistic paintings.
  • This raises fundamental questions about the nature of creative work, the role of humans versus machines, and the concept of personal experience in cultural formation. While AI offers unprecedented tools for artistic expression and allows artists to experiment with innovative methods, there are concerns about its dominance over cultural production and the potential for a decline in authentic human-driven creativity.
  • The discussion emphasizes the need for cultural policies and legislation that accommodate technological advancements without undermining cultural values or diminishing the human role as the source of meaning and interpretation. The future relationship between humans and AI in the cultural sphere is seen as open-ended, depending on how institutions and societies manage and regulate its use.
  • Cultural Connection to Tourism Development:
  • Saudi Arabia’s remarkable growth in international tourism revenue, achieving the top global rank in Q1 2025 compared to Q1 2019 with a 102% increase, is a testament to Vision 2030’s success in transforming strategic ambitions into tangible reality.
  • This achievement is attributed to a diverse and smart strategy that includes entertainment and cultural programs such as “Vision of Life” and “Saudi Seasons”. It also involves the development of ultra-modern infrastructure and mega-projects like NEOM, Diriyah, AlUla, and the Red Sea, alongside improved visa procedures. The spiritual tourism to Makkah and Madinah also plays a significant role. The growth in tourism is directly contributing to economic diversification and job creation in various related sectors like hospitality, entertainment, and contracting.

Saudi Arabian Vision 2030: Economic and Cultural Transformation

Here are the titles of the columns written in this newspaper and their first two paragraphs of detail:

  1. التزام بتعزيز التعاون الرقمي لخدمة اإلنسان تمديد برنامج الرهن الميسر وتعديالت في أنظمة التوثيق والتحكيم والمحاماة Jeddah – SPA His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – Chairman of the Council of Ministers, chaired the session held by the Council of Ministers yesterday in Jeddah. The Council reviewed during the session the overall work of the state, especially in the areas related to developing cooperation relations, coordination, integration, and partnership with brotherly and friendly countries; in a way that enhances the Kingdom’s position and its pivotal role in light of the promising opportunities and unique capabilities provided by its vision. The Council also discussed the results of Saudi Arabia’s participation in regional and international meetings; as part of its continuous support for joint action that achieves mutual interests and benefits, and contributes to addressing global challenges.
  2. وجهة عالمية This advanced ranking is a result of the integrated system of legislations and regulations that have facilitated the issuance of permits, encouraged investment in major tourism projects, and improved the quality of infrastructure and tourism services, which has contributed to creating an attractive environment for visitors from all over the world. These results are consistent with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product to 10% by 2030, compared to 3% currently.
  3. المملكة تحافظ على تصدرها مشهد االستثمار الجريء في المنطقة Riyadh – SPA A report on venture investment in the Middle East and North Africa revealed that the Kingdom maintained its lead in the region in terms of the highest value of venture investment in the first half of 2025, with investments reaching $3.2 billion (860 million riyals) in emerging companies. This reflects the rapid development the Kingdom is witnessing in various economic and financial sectors under Saudi Vision 2030 and its goals to strengthen the national economy. The report, issued yesterday by MAGNiTT, a specialized platform for venture investment data in emerging companies, confirmed that the Kingdom accounted for the largest share, reaching 56% of the total venture investment in the Middle East and North Africa during the first half of 2025.
  4. الراتب ال يكفي.. واقع اقتصادي أم سلوك مجتمعي؟ This situation, which causes repeated financial pressures on citizens, including those with fixed incomes, makes the monthly salary unable to cover all commitments, especially with the increasing burdens due to the rising cost of living and consumer goods. This crisis is reflected in a familiar phenomenon: the salary running out before the end of the month, forcing individuals to rely on temporary loans or credit to get through the remaining days. This reality is not exclusively linked to low salaries, but rather reflects a broader flaw in the relationship between income levels and personal spending behavior. With rising inflation rates and the growing cost of basic services and goods, monthly spending now often exceeds available resources, especially with the absence of financial planning tools at the individual level.
  5. استدامة سالسل اإلمداد عززت استقرار التضخم Riyadh – Abdelsalam Al-Balawi The annual inflation rate in Saudi Arabia recorded relative stability at 2.3% during June 2025 compared to the same month last year, as the consumer price index in June 2025 stabilized at 0.2% compared to May 2025, on a monthly basis. In the same context, the wholesale price index witnessed relative stability, reaching 2.1% in June 2025 compared to the same month last year.
  6. الذكاء االصطناعي.. ليس حال سحريًا Economists and business leaders describe artificial intelligence as a revolutionary treatment capable of addressing the decline in global economic productivity, with forecasts of adding billions of dollars annually. However, artificial intelligence is not a magic wand; it is closer to natural ivory after a complex surgery, and this description requires continuous effort, a well-thought-out strategy, and commitment, as well as cooperation with experts, to effectively guide this transformation. For example, over-reliance on artificial intelligence has led to insisting on customer service, forcing companies to re-employ human elements.
  7. المملكة تستحوذ على ثلثي إصدارات السندات المستدامة بالشرق األوسط Sustainable bonds and sukuk issuances linked to sustainability reached $9.47 billion in the Middle East and North Africa region during the first half of 2025, a slight decrease compared to the same period last year ($9.91 billion), according to Bloomberg’s capital markets classification tables. The rise in global interest rates and the halt of bond issuances in Egypt and Qatar helped to balance the momentum of Saudi and Emirati issuances, which kept regional trading volumes unchanged compared to the first half of 2024. Investors had dealt with the largest wave of issuances in 2023, as they reached their highest levels, driven at the time by Saudi Arabia hosting the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in the region.
  8. الطريق المباشر تعزيز لوجستي للعمرة والحج وتنمية اقتصادية Mecca – SPA The new King Abdulaziz Direct Road project, linking Jeddah Airport and Mecca, which the Ministry of Transport is implementing during this period, represents a vital logistical and service link, aiming to develop the system of Hajj and Umrah services, in addition to creating a new economic dimension for both cities. “Al Riyadh” observations on the new road, which extends for 62 km, show that it reduces the travel time between Mecca and Jeddah to fifty-three minutes.
  9. النفط يتراجع مع هدنة العقوبات وتخفيف مخاوف تعثر اإلمدادات Jubail Industrial City – Ibrahim Al-Ghamdi Oil prices fell yesterday, Tuesday, as the market absorbed a 50-day deadline set by US President Donald Trump for Russia to end the war in Ukraine and avoid sanctions on its oil buyers, which eased fears of immediate supply disruptions, while concerns persisted over commercial tariffs imposed by Trump. Brent crude futures fell by 12 cents, or 0.2%, to $69.09 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell by 16 cents, or 0.2%, to $66.82. Both contracts had fallen by more than one dollar in the previous session.
  10. الذهب يرتفع مع تنامي الطلب وسط التوترات التجارية Jubail Industrial City – Ibrahim Al-Ghamdi Gold prices rose yesterday, Tuesday, with increasing demand for safe haven assets due to concerns about the global trade war, while investors awaited key US inflation data. Spot gold prices rose by 0.5% to $3,361.39 per ounce, and US gold futures rose by 0.3% to $3,370.40. The US dollar index fell by 0.1%, making gold cheaper for buyers holding other currencies.
  11. قلق أممي من تراجع تطعيم األطفال حول العالم Geneva – AFP UNICEF announced yesterday, Tuesday, that global child vaccination rates have stabilized after the decline witnessed during the Covid crisis, but misinformation and reduced international aid pose new threats. In 2024, 85% of children in the age group that should receive this vaccine received three doses of the diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough vaccine (or the DTP triple vaccine), representing 108 million children.
  12. ختام األسبوع الثقافي السعودي في اليابان.. Riyadh – Cultural The Ministry of Culture concluded the activities of the “Saudi Cultural Week” in Osaka, Japan, which was held from July 12 to 15 at the Expo 2025 Osaka venue, amidst a large presence and interaction from the Japanese and international public and visitors. The event constituted an exceptional cultural occasion, linking Saudi heritage with global cultural exchange frameworks, coinciding with the seventieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Japan. This year, the event focused on highlighting the “Year of Handicrafts 2025” as one of the fundamental components of Saudi cultural identity.
  13. مركز الملك فيصل يعيد اكتشاف تراث لغوي نادر Riyadh – Cultural The King Faisal Center for Research and Studies has published a unique work of linguistic heritage from the Andalusian school of grammar, in three scholarly volumes, titled: “Al-Fosul wal-Jumal fi Sharh Abyat Al-Jumal wa Islah Ma Waqa’a fi Abyat Sibawayh wa fi Sharhiha lil-A’lam min Al-Wahm wal-Khlal”, authored by Ibn Hisham Al-Andalusi Al-Nahawi Al-Lakhmi (died 577 AH), and edited by Dr. Ayyad bin Eid Al-Thubaiti. This publication comes within the “Linguistic Studies” series, which the center is developing as a reference platform for reviving Arabic language sciences at their higher academic levels.
  14. الدارة تتيح وثيقة نادرة تبرز البعد اإلنساني في قيادة الملك عبدالعزيز Riyadh – Cultural The King Abdulaziz Foundation (Darah) has made available a rare historical document from the personal collection of Saleh bin Abdulwahed Al-Midani, which sheds light on the humanitarian and administrative aspects of King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud’s approach – may God have mercy on him. This is part of the “Darah Documents” initiative, which aims to provide valuable scientific and national documents to researchers and interested parties. The document includes a letter dated Dhu al-Qi’dah 6, 1343 AH, corresponding to June 17, 1925 AD, sent by King Abdulaziz to Saleh bin Abdulwahed Al-Midani, ordering him to send a doctor named “Mahmoud” to provide medical assistance to pilgrims of the Sacred House of God.
  15. التحول الثقافي في عصر الذكاء االصطناعي Riyadh – Cultural The cultural world is witnessing a qualitative transformation in the relationship between humans and creative production as a result of the entry of artificial intelligence technologies into various fields that have gone beyond technical uses to artistic and cultural domains. Artificial intelligence has become an active player in producing music, generating literary texts, creating artistic paintings, and translating cultural works, which has prompted cultural institutions and practitioners to re-evaluate traditional concepts related to creativity, intellectual property, and aesthetic standards. In this context, artificial intelligence is no longer seen merely as an assistive tool, but has become a partner in the creative process through models that rely on generating content by analyzing linguistic or visual patterns and re-producing them within new contexts.
  16. ختام األسبوع الثقافي السعودي في اليابان.. Riyadh – Cultural Today The Ministry of Culture concluded the activities of the “Saudi Cultural Week” in Osaka, Japan, which was held from July 12 to 15 at the Expo 2025 Osaka venue, amidst a large presence and interaction from the Japanese and international public and visitors.
